Philosophy

We, the faculty of the College of Nursing, Manimalakkunnu believe that the graduates in nursing be equipped with the knowledge, skill and attitude to render comprehensive, holistic nursing care to clients with various disorders in hospital, home, and community. We promote the all-round development of students and prepare them for adjusting to the changing needs of society. We mould the students to exhibit positive attitudes and character upholding the dignity of the individual and profession.

Objectives

To provide opportunities that enable the student to develop the aptitude to function as an effective nurse.The programme emphasizes the development of strong interpersonal relationships, enabling students to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and their relatives. It also offers essential knowledge and learning experiences that help students function with increasing competence, expand their professional capabilities, and grow into responsible nursing professionals.

About Us

Institute of Nursing Education (INE), Manimalakkunnu is a unit of the School of Medical Education (SME) under the Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies(CPAS), Kottyam (establishment of Government of Kerala), headed by Minister for Higher Education, Government of Kerala as Chairman, Secretary to Government, Higher Education as Vice Chairman and Prof. Harikrishnan P. as Director. The institution is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) in Thrissur, Kerala.

The School of Medical Education, a self financing college, previously run directly by Mahatma Gandhi University till 2016, came into existence in 1993 with an aim of providing trained human resources in the area of allied medical and health sciences. Now this institution is under the control of Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies (CPAS), a Society established by Government of Kerala.

The seeds of this portal of professional education started in 1993 and the institution owes its origin to the foresight and sagacity of Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Kerala to establish the School of Medical Education (SME), a pioneer self-financing institution, the first of its kind in the state of Kerala offering a variety of health and allied science courses with an aim to provide specialty based quality education to meet the ever increasing demand for trained professionals.

School of Medical Education is an institution that runs many regional centres spread across four districts in Kerala, conducting more than ten paramedical and allied health science courses. The undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs of the school so designed to prepare skilled, competent, and committed health professionals. Academic training and clinical practices are imparted in collaboration with the Government Medical Colleges and hospitals across the state of Kerala.
